The Ill Math
This week is going to be a bit of a departure from previous episodes, because this show is not about a band or group no longer making music together. This podcast is a shout out and thank you to my ace, The Math, for all the help he has provided in making this show even possible.
I have known Math for going on 15 years now, and he is a talented individual when it comes to making music and art. He created all the various logos I use for the podcast, and also supplies the bed music I use in between songs.
But when I use his music for the show, I try to stray away from some of his more complex compositions, especially those that are sample heavy. For this week’s show, I don’t have to worry about that.
Math digs, cuts, loops, remixes, and builds his songs. As a product of the old school and golden age of hip-hop, there is a definite boom bap style in his songs. He takes individual drum sounds and build his own kits and beats, sampling everything from foreign movie soundtracks and library music to obscure funk cuts from the late 60’s and early 70’s… and movies and television… and radio… and books on tape… and…
He is also a talented comic book and portrait artist, just for good measure.
